Orlando, as Florida's largest inland city, became a popular resort during the years between the Spanish-American War and World War I. Orlando is, on average, 106 feet above sea level. Orlando is home to one of the nation's largest and rapidly-growing Puerto Rican communities (particularly its metropolitan area). Orlando is home to the Orlando Magic, an NBA pro basketball franchise that plays at Amway Arena in downtown Orlando. Orlando Executive Airport is used for charter flights and General Aviation. Orlando once leaned heavily on Disney World and its service-sector spinoffs to prop up its economy, but these days it's pulling in life sciences, digital media, and health-care companies with affordable (or subsidized) land and tax breaks. Orlando is famous for its golf courses.
